Blame America First - Watch Newsweek Go !!!
No one is saying that the United States should attack Iran unless every reasonable, non-military effort has been exhausted and that our national interests are severely at risk. However, watch the far left media begin the spin of trying to prohibit the administration from protecting this country from what may be a severely dangerous threat.
There is no doubt that the greatest reason Iraq is still a massive challenge is Iranian influence aiding the growing Shia wave. They are supplying them with intelligence, training and weapons that are not only disrupting the peace, they are killing American soldiers. They are the sponsors of Hezbollah, having armed them and authorized last summers war against Israel as a demonstration of their ability to wreck havoc in the region. They are poised to utilize Hezbollah to topple the legally elected government in Beirut as a means to continue their campaign seeking influence in the region. They are led by religious extremists and are working feverishly to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran is the single largest threat to the United States achieving their goal of peace in the Middle East.
All this being said, for the past several years the Bush Administration has worked closely with the international community to unite in confronting the actions of Iran. They have been successful in imposing sanctions and worldwide pressure on the Iranian leadership. There remains tremendous hope for dialogue, logical minds and ultimately a peaceful solution because of this degree of success, an international unity that never would have been achieved prior to Iraq. The Iranian regime is feeling the heat at home. Their young population is upset with the world isolation created by their fanatical leadership and remain frustrated over the stagnant economy offering them little opportunity.
However, it is still possible that it might not work out that way. If that is the case, our country must be in a position to not only protect us at home but protect our thousands of soldiers stationed in the Gulf. Once again, it is a series of tough, bad choices. However, there is no reason to position America as the catalyst of this mess.
If you read the article in next week's Newsweek magazine posted below, amazingly you will find Iran positioned as another innocent pawn of the imperialistic Bush Administration. You have to read it to believe it.
