Le Monde Reports on Putin's Russia.

It's nice to see we have some things in common with the French. The article published in this month's issue of Le Monde spells out a theme of this blog. National interests are driven by access to important resources. It is the eternal conflict of capitalistic societies like the United States. Can we free ourselves of our dependency? To do so we must overcome the tremendous capitalistic driven lobbies that handcuff/terrorize any candidate from consistently lobbying against them.
Anyway, below you will find an interesting article and perspective on Don Putin and his Russia.

Nostalgia for power, dreams of autonomy
Tsar Putin’s Russia
Le Monde Diplomatique

Energy is at the centre of Russia’s strategic partnership with the European Union. Oil is the cause of its struggle with the US over the routes of pipelines from the Caspian and Central Asia. Dismantling the Yukos group will complete Russia’s renationalisation of energy. President Vladimir Putin, in his second term, has restored state power within a market economy framework.

Anti-Semitism Alive in Berlin; Was it ever dead ?

Maybe a small glitch or simply a constant, under reported series of incidents. A nursery school in Berlin was painted with swastikas yesterday.

Berlin's Jews Say Nursery Attack Shows Anti-Semitism Still Alive

The leader of Berlin's Jewish community said on Thursday that an attack on a Jewish nursery school which was daubed with swastikas showed anti-Semitism was still a threat.

Gideon Joffe issued the warning at a prayer service held to protest against the attack in which "Jews get out" was sprayed on a wall and a smoke flare was thrown into the unoccupied building in western Berlin at the weekend. There were no injuries but the nursery was damaged by fire.

Ralph Peters on The Start of Iraq Strategy Paying Off...

Military expert Ralph Peters offers insight into an improved strategy with optimistic signs of success in Iraq despite much of our media, singling out The New York Times, publishing strategies offering heads up to our enemies.

BATTLING FOR BAGHDAD
NEW TACTICS BRING SIGNS OF PROGRESS

Ralph Peters, The New York Post
March 1, 2007 -- WITH all of the mud-sling ing on Capitol Hill, you could almost forget the gun-slinging in Baghdad.

As Democrats, Iraqi insurgents and terrorists all struggle to prevent an American win, it's hard to get an accurate sense of Iraq nowadays.

When in doubt, ask a soldier.

Victor David Hanson Offers Historical Perspective

Historian Victor Davis Hanson offers some historical perspective in contemplating today's crisis and challange in Iraq.

It’s Not Unusual; Iraq war mirrors past.
By Victor Davis Hanson

Given all of this country’s past wars involving intelligence failures, tactical and strategic blunders, congressional fights and popular anger at the president, Iraq and the rising furor over it are hardly unusual.

449 Quentin On Geffin, The Clintons and Soros

By 449 Quentin on 03/01/07

It was February 26,2007 and the article was on page C1 of The New York Times. The headline read “Someone Give Geffen A Day Job”. The Author was `David Carr and his assignment was to do a hatchet job on Mr. Geffen in order to save Hillary‘s campaign from serious trouble. Now with a guy like Geffen your best bet would be to skirt around the target taking pot shots. Because to go in for the kill would put you in his line of site, a place from which few have emerged alive.

David Geffen is a 900 pound gorilla that few people in the heartland have ever heard of. But in the deep blue spots on the map where Liberal street cred counts like New York and Los Angeles everybody who matters knows who David Geffen is. They also know that you do not toy with Mr. Geffen or the 45 billion (not million) that he is worth. Our boy Dave not only has the bucks he knows how to use his fortune to get you on the highway of dreams or steer you into the dead end street called oblivion.

Dave is very good at what he does. One sentence was all he needed to derail Hillary’s express train to glory. All he had to do was chat up Maureen Dowd who writes a column for the New York Times where she castrates men and lay it on with casual disinterest. “Everybody in politics lies, but they do it with such ease, it’s troubling”. “That was it, thirteen little worlds and Billary’s world and all of its dynastic plans were in a tizzy. But Mr. Geffen wasn’t content with that, he started hurling money in Barrack Obama’s direction.

The dual Clintons went ballistic demanding that Obama give it back and be principled like they were. Of course there memories were out to lunch because Bill had found it quiet acceptable to take money from Mr. Geffen during his own campaigns for the nations highest office. That way he could be the protector of the little people out there across the fruited plain, especially the women. Of course the Liberal press gave him a pass on that one unlike the treatment they would have given the current occupant of the oval office if his eye had wandered. For an infraction of that magnitude one suspects that they would have invoked Islamic Law on Mr. Bush and commenced slicing body parts.

As a Jewish right winger who cast his first vote for Barry Goldwater I could not have been more pleased. Watching the extreme left wing of the Democrat party eating its young was almost as much fun as watching Hamas and Fatah ripping each others hearts out in the streets of Gaza.
Evidently hell has no fury like a Hollywood mogul scorned. Bill Clinton had to chose between two mega billionaires. Ron Burkle and David Geffen. Both of these control freaks where struggling to buy the Los Angeles Times just to make sure all the newspapers from sea to shining sea were 100% Liberal instead of 99%. Both little fellers wanted Bill “It depends what your definition of is, is” Clinton to be the power behind the throne queen Hillary was going to sit on.

Clinton chose Burkle and had the temerity to sleep at his house when in Los Angeles leaving Mr. Geffen’s spare bedroom empty. So you see that blood had to be spilled. Actually Bill had no choice since Mr. Geffen is so far left he is scary. While many even on the left were critical of Clinton’s pardon sale orgy as he was leaving the white house Mr. Geffen was piqued about someone that wasn’t on the list. That would be one Leonard Peltier who even Billary figured would be to hot to handle. And what you may ask was the gentlemen’s offense.

It seems he was convicted of murdering two federal agents who were trying to arrest him for being as the lib’s put it a Native American activist. Now Bill and Hill love graft and pardons as much as the next politician but this was a bit much even for them. Our boy Geffen on the other hand got his shorts in twist over the pardon that never happened. You see little Davie with his billionaire lifestyle empathized with the noble young brave in his war paint. David Geffen in his compound by the sea and Leonard Peltier running amuck on the rez, same thing.

That’s how far out the guys and gals with the mega bucks funding the left in America are. While the Lib’s are filling their coffers with dough from the likes of Geffen they also have an open palm for extra coins from folks like George Soro’s another neighborhood billionaire. Mr. Soros is slightly to the left of Mr. Geffen. He if I may paraphrase feels that the entire United States and that presumably means the blue states too should go through a period of de Nazification.

Evidently Mr. Soros was taught history by the Marx brothers. Or is he serious? These are the types that not only fund the Democratic party but demand input into policy even though they legally reside on Pluto and have contributed to it’s recent demise as a planet.

Bill O'Reily Dead on About New York Times

Playback Editor on 03/01/07

Fox Commentator Bill O'Reilly hit the bulls eye last night during his discussion with guest Dennis Miller. In a conversation about the highly partisan positioning of the formerly great Grey Lady, O'Reilly nailed it when he described the New York Times transformation. "They went from all the news that's fit to print" to "printing the news that fits."

O'Reilly was specifically referring to the fact that the New York Times offered zero coverage of the fact that a high ranking member of the A.C.L.U. was recently busted for involvement in child pornography. He was amazed that the New York Times did not find this to be newsworthy.

I am no longer amazed. It is 100% clear to me that the Times publisher's have a far left agenda and they will keep using their formerly great institution to push their personal viewpoints. It has become a giant editorial section which is why I feel compelled to memorialize it.

Today is yet another example. In today's banner headline the New York Times actually positions the U.S. as the bad guy in its handling of North Korea over the past five years. The article reprinted below views the U.S. as making false accusations in an attempt to bait North Korea as North Korea simply responds as any other nation being singled out.

This is absurd. North Korea is a dictatorship with a documented history of barbaric treatment of its own citizens. They have cheated on or broken every agreement they have made with the United States, most noticeably the 1994 treaty brokered by then-president Bill Clinton.

Read this slop for yourselves.
